Behind the Scenes: Our Studio Refit

After years of working out of cafés, bedrooms, makeshift desks, and coworking spaces, we finally moved into our Southend studio in 2023. It was a big moment – but it wasn’t quite us yet.

So last year, we gave the space a proper refit. Think less ‘basic agency with a fern’ and more ‘carefully curated chaos with functioning plug sockets’. Here’s a peek behind the scenes.

Jake Lines, Managing Director (and now, apparently, Chief Interior Designer)

When we said we wanted to personalise the space, Jake took it personally. Somewhere along the line, his day job got left behind and he became full-time Head of Flooring Decisions, Furniture Assembly, and Tech Stack Installation. And honestly? He smashed it.

Function meets… vibes?

It’s modern – but not showroom modern. Clean lines, warm lighting, and a few older touches that stop it feeling too shiny. (We’re not interior designers, but you get it.)

  • Everything’s built for how we actually work:
  • Fully kitted-out tech setups (Apple only, sorry not sorry Microsoft)
  • Two TVs (mainly used for music, Tipping Point or the odd presentation when we remember we’re professionals)
  • Alexa blaring non-stop, from 9am to whenever the last one leaves
  • Plants everywhere, but not in a ‘biophilic design’ way – more in a ‘we love them and keep forgetting to water them’ way

Seafront views & quarterly chaos

One of the best things? The view. We’re lucky enough to look out across Southend seafront, which does wonders for the brain when you’re stuck on copy v17 or can’t decide between two shades of beige.

It’s also where we host our quarterly team socials – drinks, debriefs, and the occasional quiz that gets way too competitive.

Office dog. Obviously.

Digby, our Chief Barketing Officer, is a full-time fixture. Equal parts adorable and disruptive, he’s single-handedly responsible for 30% of internal messages and 100% of morale.

It’s definitely us now.

The studio’s not huge, but it’s very Beyond. A bit noisy, always busy, full of opinions – and now, finally, a space that feels like home.

Pop in sometime. We’ll show you round (and let Jake talk you through the flooring decision, again).
